The study of music is the heart of a liberal arts education. The Fine and Performing Arts Department provides an ideal environment for such an education, with a diverse Music Studies curriculum that features creative courses in music theory, history, technology, and performance.
The UCC Fine and Performing Arts Department offers a comprehensive two-year Music Studies program for vocal and instrumental students. It is approved for transfer to the University of Oregon School of Music, Western Oregon University, and to liberal arts and education programs at most four-year colleges and universities. UCC also offers an associate of arts degree in music which is articulated with Southern Oregon University.
The coursework in Music Studies at UCC includes two (2) years of music theory and ear training, private lessons, and music literature. UCC award- winning performance groups include choir, band and orchestra, with groups specializing in both jazz and classical music. Additional classes are offered in jazz improvisation, music technology, jazz history, rock history, and world music.
Merit awards are awarded to outstanding music students each term. Call the music faculty at 541-440-4693 for more information.
