RE: Presidential Search Update

The Board of Education is pleased to announce that we are entering the first round of virtual interviews for the president position.

As everyone is aware, Dr. Thatcher plans to retire at the end of June. The board began the search process in earnest at our retreat last summer by developing a Presidential Profile. We received 90 applications for the position.

Thanks to the ad-hoc board committee and especially the Search Advisory Committee, we have narrowed the list to 16 candidates, all of whom will interview virtually with the board. The board will score and rank the candidates and then select a smaller group for in-depth virtual interviews. The virtual interviews are confidential and held in executive session following the public meeting law.

After the virtual interviews, the board will select two to four candidates to visit the campus for personal interviews. We will also hold virtual open houses to allow the campus and community to meet the finalists.

As we said before, the board is overwhelmed and humbled by the quality of the candidates. Many great education leaders, who have dedicated their lives to help students succeed, applied. We are also grateful for the service of the Advisory Committee. They offered excellent discussions that will affect the outcome of the search. Thank you all for your efforts. Together we are making a difference for our students and community.
