RE: Presidential Search Announcement and Invitation to complete Online Survey

The Board of Education is conducting the search for UCC’s next president without the assistance of a search firm. The Board decided to run the search for several reasons:

1) By doing the work ourselves and not relying on someone else to tell us what we want, it will force the Board to pay close attention to the details and especially the feedback from the campus community.
2) We will save the college $40,000 to $80,000.
3) Recruiting has changed dramatically. Fat rolodexes have been replaced with LinkedIn and other sites like the Chronicle of Higher Ed’s job listings. The Board has access to electronic resources essential to the search and is willing to put in the time to do the work ourselves.

The Board is committed to conduct an equitable, participatory, inclusive, transparent national search. We will recruit a strong and diverse pool of candidates.

An important step in the process is to develop a presidential profile. The profile describes the essential priorities and characteristics of the next president. The Board and Search Committee will use the profile to evaluate candidates, to help ensure that we find the person who can best lead the campus forward.

Here is where we need your help: would you please take a short, anonymous four-question survey to help us develop the profile? Cast you vision and tell the Board what you feel is important. The survey is open to everyone. You can find a link to the survey on the College Facebook page, in the UCC Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn feeds, and on the front (home) page of the UCC website.

The survey is open to everyone – students, faculty, staff, administrators, and especially the community. Please tell us what you feel is important. We want your input.
