Campus student leaders are asking for your help.
ROSEBURG, Oregon – Are you wanting to give thanks this holiday season? This year, the ASUCC Leadership team is giving students the opportunity to send holiday cards to local veterans.
“Umpqua Community College (UCC) is a veteran-friendly campus,” Robert Mountainspring-Wood, ASUCC’s Public Relations Officer, said. “During the holidays, we try to find a way to thank them for what they have done for us. These people gave large portions of themselves so we didn’t have to. Regardless of your political affiliation or opinion on war, these people deserve a good holiday. We want to show we notice them and care."
While many students have already submitted cards, ASUCC is hoping to get as many as possible. If you would like to sign a card, visit the LaVerne Murphy Student Center Lobby located at the UCC main campus. Inside the lobby, there is a table with blank holiday cards.
“This may be the only holiday card these veterans get,” Mountainspring-Wood said. “Even writing your name on a card can show you care.”
The last day to fill out these cards is Friday, Dec. 8. They will be delivered to the Roseburg Veterans Administration Medical Center the week after finals.
