Meet The Mentors

Monica Botwinick

I am a non-traditional sophomore here at UCC and I am pursuing my AAOT. The goal is to transfer to Portland State University and earn my Masters in Social Work. I want to work with postpartum women and families as a mental health counselor. As a non-traditional student, I am a mother of three and married to an amazing partner. I have held various professional positions prior to becoming a student, such as a mortgage loan officer, medical receptionist, office coordinator, customer service, and call center representative. I volunteer with the Douglas County Babywearers, I am President of the Queer Student Advocacy and the Public Relations Officer of Debate Club here on campus. I am passionate about helping others and providing a safe, welcoming, and understanding space for others. In my (very limited) spare time, I enjoy playing Pokemon GO, watching makeup and DIY renovation tutorials, listening to music and going to concerts, reading and listening to audiobooks, and cooking amazing food.

Heidi Shirley

Hi, my name is Heidi. I have been coming to UCC since 2016; I had started with GED classes, and I’m now working to get my AAOT. I am hoping to transfer to Pacific University to get my Bachelor’s in education; I eventually want to be an elementary teacher. When I’m not at UCC, I’m often with family and friends. I also enjoy swimming, reading, and food. If you have any questions, or need help with anything, just ask!
