Annual Student Art Show Goes Virtual
UCC celebrates and showcases the energy, effort, and creativity of its art students.
ROSEBURG, Oregon – The Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College (UCC) is thrilled to present the UCC Annual Student Art Show: A Virtual Exhibition that will premiere on YouTube™ and Facebook™ on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 2 p.m.
Each year, the College’s Department of Performing and Visual Arts holds an exhibition of student artwork to celebrate and showcase the energy, effort, and creativity of its students. The art show allows UCC to share student work with Douglas County and the broader community. In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current campus closure to in-person services, this year is no exception. UCC wants to continue this tradition, even if the exhibition is not displayed in the physical gallery.
The Virtual Exhibition will be presented as a 10-minute video that will exhibit 62 works by 46 UCC student artists. The exhibit will showcase the skills they gained in design, ceramics, drawing, and painting classes.
UCC offers a full range of art classes with contemporary and traditional approaches to art-making. Taught by dedicated faculty, UCC art classes are small and provide plenty of individual attention. Students develop a heightened awareness of the visual world, an awareness that is both subjective and objective. It provides a new format for stating what is already known and a system for discovering and understanding what isn’t yet known. UCC’s Fine Art faculty are Laura Butler Hughes, Renee Couture, Ted Isto, Greg Price, and Susan Rochester.
Everyone is invited to join the watch party and see the art show premiere on Tuesday, June 30 at 2 p.m., by following either of these two links:
