This is the first Career Pathways Certificate in the Automotive program and takes 33 credits to complete.
The technical knowledge required to achieve an entry level position as an Automotive Technician to meet current industry standards requires courses that enhance critical problem solving and advance practical diagnostic skills.
The UCC Automotive Program is accredited by the National Automotive Technical Education Foundation.
NOTE: Students may be able to attend different courses (tracks) through FIRST YEAR automotive classes — see your automotive instructors/advisers for track advising.

Automotive Technician (Basic)
This occupation is one in which required skill levels are constantly being upgraded. Increased sophistication of automotive systems and the need for computerized diagnostic tools compels schools to constantly update curriculum to meet industry demands.
According to the Oregon Labor Market Information System (OLMIS), this career field can be expected to grow over 15 percent statewide in the next 10 years.

Program Admission Process
The Automotive programs have limited enrollment. To start in the fall term, it is best to turn in applications before September.
Applicants must successfully complete the admission application form and meet the program requirements. Admission to the program will be based on accepted application to the program and then on a first-come, first-served basis as space allows.
A basic tool set is required of all entering students. A list of required tools is available from the automotive instructors. UCC offers Automotive Certificates and AAS options.
Minimum GPA in automotive classes shall be 2.00. For current program requirements, you are strongly urged to consult with a member of the automotive staff or an adviser.
