DEVELOPMENT OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN
In October 2018, the UCC Board of Education approved a new strategic plan for the College. The approval came after months of collective work with input from College employees, students, and community members. To best reflect the needs and interests of various constituents, feedback was gathered through an anonymous online survey in which 112 students, 360 community members, and 104 employees responded. Additionally, four face-to-face community forums were also held throughout Douglas County. The draft plan was reviewed and revised multiple times before the final plan was presented to the Board.
The new strategic plan serves as a road map for achieving the College’s vision for the future. The plan helps fulfill the College’s mission, reflects the College’s values and core themes, and provides measurable goals for the next three years.

COMMUNITY INTERESTS REFLECTED IN STRATEGIC PLAN
The following are the top six community responses to the strategic plan survey. Click on each one to see the strategic plan components that address the community's input.
1. Add or expand additional academic programs and certifications, especially in career and technical areas, as well as online offerings.
- Create new, well-differentiated programs within each academic division
- Complete the design and secure matching funds for the Industrial Technology Center
- Deliver programs and courses through multiple modalities (e.g., face-to-face, web enhanced, blended, online, accelerated)
- Create Small Business Development Center (SBDC) annual goals that address needs of small businesses
- Expand number of Community and Workforce Training customized training opportunities
2. Improve quality of educational offerings.
- Use varied, current instructional methodologies to improve student learning
- Use technology to improve student learning
- Provide faculty professional development in teaching methodologies, use of technology to enhance student learning, and various delivery modalities
3. Schedule courses in evenings, weekends, and summers to accommodate working adults.

4. Control tuition and fees
- Streamline course offerings to eliminate course duplication, reduce electives and under-enrolled classes, assure course transferability, and/or assure direct application to program outcomes

- Implement initiatives to limit costs of attending college
- Increase use of low-cost textbooks/materials and open educational resources
- Increase student education cost savings per year through student participation in Umpqua Scholars, dual credit, expanded options, tuition waivers, UCC Foundation scholarships, SNAP, work study, and part-time employment

5. Improve advising
- Engage certificate and degree seeking students in developing academic career plans
