Student clubs and organizations provide students an opportunity to combine various aspects of their academic and/or vocational learning into personal action. Through participation in a student club or organization, students apply the skills and responsibilities of leadership and become involved in the community. Clubs are a great way to meet other students with similar interests and have fun while developing lifelong skills.

Computer Club

The mission of the Computer Club is to raise awareness and learn about current topics in computing and cybersecurity.

Debate Club

UCC's debate club meets weekly to hone debate skills in a friendly and non-judgmental environment. Everyone is welcome to attend meetings, even if just to observe. The purpose of this club is to gather other students with an interest in debate. Meets Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. in Jackson Hall #11.

Engineering Club

This club serves as a support group for the students in the UCC Engineering Program and serve as a learning tool for that will aid in the development of good problem solving skills. The club also hopes to inspire students interested in Engineering. Meets Friday at 12:00 p.m. in Jackson Hall #12.

Geology Club 

The purpose of this club is to discuss, analyze and explore the geology in the Pacific Northwest, specifically Douglas County. Meets First and Third Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. in HNSC 212.

Mainstream Student Newspaper

You can write letters to the editor, write a guest column, or join The Mainstream staff (register for Journalism Production (J215) for a term or more as a writer, editor, designer or photographer. Meets at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in TC 103.

National Student Nursing Association, UCC Chapter

The Nursing Club creates awareness and provides support to students, campus and community regarding health promotion, leadership and nursing.

Phi Theta Kappa

This club is for students with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher. According to the Phi Theta Kappa website, the club strives to recognize and encourage scholarships among two-year college students. The group hosts multiple events every term. Meets every Friday at Noon in the Riverhawk Bistro located in the cafeteria.

Pre Health Professionals Club  

The purpose of this club is to promote understanding and exploration of various health professionals by UCC Students. The club meeting time is yet to be determined. For more information about club meeting times, speak with Tony Terra, ASUCC Public Relations Officer.

Queer Students Advocacy 

The QSA is dedicated to fostering and nurturing the understanding, acceptance, and education of anyone within the membership and community. The club will emphasize creating a supportive, confidential environment for students of all sexual orientations. Meets Tuesdays at 3 p.m. in Jackson 16. (Club Formally known as Gay Straight Alliance)

Skills USA

The SkillsUSA club at UCC recommends that students be in one of the technical or career programs but does not require it. SkillsUSA focuses on helping its members become world-class workers and responsible citizens. The SkillsUSA group hosts more than 80 competitions in the fields of leadership development, health occupations, occupationally related contests, and trade, industrial and technical contests. Meets every third Wednesday at noon in Lockwood 2.

Spanish Club

Learn the culture and the language behind Spanish speaking countries at the Spanish Club. Each week offers a new variety ways of learning including games, videos, food, and more! The Spanish Club meets every Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in Jackson Hall room 10. If you have any questions you please feel free to speak to Senor Tratz.

Veterans of UCC Club

Calling all Veterans and supporters of Veterans! The Veterans Club's mission is to provide a support system for all veterans at UCC and network veterans from all branches of service, utilizing programs, benefits and services to enhance the UCC experience for each Veteran professionally and socially. This club meets every every other Tuesday at noon in the Veteran's Center in ESB.

We have a Veterans Service Officer on site to assist the Veterans of UCC with their benefits also.

 

Creating a New Club

The process for starting a new club:

  1. Complete the Club Petition form. You will need 30 signatures from students who are currently enrolled in 3 or more credits. You will need to identify a student who will serve as the club representative (or contact).
  2. Identify a Club Advisor and have them review and sign the petition and the Club Advisor Agreement
  3. Develop a Constitution and/or Bylaws for your Club. You may use the template provided or review the handout on how to develop one of your own
  4. Submit (1) (2) and (3) to the ASUCC Activities Officer.
  5. Attend the ASUCC Student Leadership Team meeting, where your Club Petition form will be reviewed. ASUCC Student Leadership Team meets every Monday at noon in the Administration Building Board Room.
  6. Once approved, you will need to meet with Marjan Coester, Director for Student Life, for a club orientation.

Bible Study Club

UCC's Bible Study Club's purpose is to have fellowship with other students studying the Christian Bible and encouraging one an other.

This club is focused on providing opportunities to members to travel and see productions across the Pacific Northwest. Another goal of the club is to stimulate creativity and serve the campus with cultural recreational offerings.

This club is dedicated to making the campus more environmentally friendly, working on the UCC Community Garden, participating in outdoor activities, and volunteering in the community.
