The Art Gallery at UCC

Whipple Art GalleryThe UCC Art Gallery is located in the Whipple Fine Arts Center. The 1,100 square foot space features six exhibits during the academic year. There is also the mezzanine gallery on the second floor of Whipple that features student art work on a continuous basis. Both galleries feature exhibits in a variety of media, including ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. The major purpose and function of the Art Gallery is to exhibit quality works of art for the education and cultural benefit of the students of UCC and the citizens of Douglas County.

Latest Exhibit - UCC Juried Student Art Show

Student Show - Wayne JaworskiThe Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College is proud to present the UCC Juried Student Art Show from Thursday, May 11, through Friday, June 9, 2017. There will be a reception on Thursday, May 11 from 12:30 pm - 2 pm with awards presentation at 1:15 pm.

Held annually and always a campus-wide favorite, the UCC Juried Student Art Show showcases the best, riskiest, most ambitious work by UCC art students. This exciting show will feature works created during the 2016-2017 academic year in one of the many Fine Art courses offered at UCC. Along with the selection of juried works in this exhibition, there is a special display of graphic design work by Christina Morrow, UCC’s last student graduating from the Visual Communications Certificate program. This year, Fine Art Faculty members Susan Rochester, Renee Couture, Ted Iso, and Greg Price completed the initial adjudication. Artist James Thatcher will complete the final part of jury process to determine which student-artists are awarded Best of Show awards. New to Douglas County, Thatcher creates two- and three-dimensional abstract works. Thatcher studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC, and has exhibited as throughout the mid-Atlantic and upper Midwestern United States.
