LIBRARY COMPUTER LAB RULES AND PROCEDURES
By using a library computer, you agree to abide by the UCC Acceptable Use Policy.
All use of college-owned equipment and network services must be in compliance with applicable UCC policies, procedures and guidelines as well as the laws of the State of Oregon.
- EXPRESS MACHINE CHECK OUT. You must have a library card to use the first three rows of computers. Check out a computer mouse at the circulation desk and plug it in to one of the USB ports on the computer. Use of these machines is limited to 30 minutes. If you need it longer and no one is waiting to use a computer, you can renew the checkout period. Bring your card to the Circulation Desk. You will be assessed a fine of 25 cents per hour for any time past the check-out period. Return the mouse to the desk when you are finished.
- SCANNER CHECK OUT. You must have a library card to use the computers with scanners. Check out a mouse at the Circulation Desk. You will be assessed a fine of 25 cents per hour for any time past the check-out period. You may renew the check out period, subject to the availability of computers. Take your library card to the Circulation Desk to renew it. Return the mouse to the desk when you are finished.
- OPEN LAB COMPUTERS. These computers are available on a first come, first serve basis. You do not have to check out these machines. All computers in the lab have the same software available.
- Depending on availability, use of the library computers may be limited to current UCC students only. If you are a student using computers for activities unrelated to course assignments, you may be asked to leave the lab when it is full and others are waiting.
- Please keep printing to a minimum. If you are not a UCC Student, printing charges are 25 cents a page for color printing and 5 cents a page for black & white printing. Please pay at the front desk.
- The library computers are for accessing the Internet and library databases, or for using applications related to classroom instruction as discussed in the UCC Acceptable Use Policy.
- The computers in the library exist to support the educational mission of UCC. Any other use requires permission from Computer Services staff or Library staff.
- Keep speaking level down and maintain a professional attitude.
- Place used paper neatly into the recycling boxes provided.
- Don't use your cell phone in the computer lab. Phone conversations annoy those around you in the lab. Please turn off
your phone ringer while you are in the library.
- No food, drinks, smoking, or chewing are allowed in the lab areas.
- Operate the equipment with respect and care.
- No one under 16 is allowed in the computer lab area.
(Exception: underage students enrolled in a UCC class requiring the use of the library.)
- Failure to abide by these rules could result in losing your access to library computers.
- PLEASE ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO USE THIS RESOURCE RESPONSIBLY. Please observe these restrictions and cooperate with the lab aide.
