Interlibrary Loan Policy
Interlibrary loan service is available to Umpqua Community College students and staff only. Budget reductions and the elimination of the Interlibrary Loan Specialist position require this new policy. The Douglas County Library (phone: 440-4305) provides interlibrary loan service to the general public.
Interlibrary Loan is a service offered by this library which enables UCC students and staff to borrow materials from other libraries throughout the nation. It also acts as a lending library to Interlibrary Loan networks nation-wide. Please read and acknowledge the Interlibrary Loan policies below:
- When the lending library assesses a photocopying charge, that charge must be paid by the person requesting the materials. (You will be advised prior to processing the request, if the cost exceeds the cost limit you have indicated.)
- UCC students and staff will be notified by the UCC Library when ILL materials are available for loan. This library reserves the right not to accept an Interlibrary Loan request from a patron who has failed to collect interlibrary loan materials from a previous request. If a second infraction occurs, further interlibrary requests may be denied. The patron is responsible for picking up any materials ordered. Materials must be picked up by the borrower with in seven working days after receiving notificaton that the materials are available.
- Any interlibrary loan materials which are overdue will incur a $1.00 fine. The due date is affixed to the book. If renewals are allowed by the lending library, a renewal request must be requested in advance of the due date.
- Materials loaned must be returned promptly to the Umpqua Community College Library Circulation Desk and in the same condition as they were loaned. This library must abide by any restrictions placed by the lending library on borrowed materials.
- You must include your valid UCC library card number and you must be a currently enrolled UCC student or a member of the UCC staff in order for us to process your request.

Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code)
governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to
furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the

study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a
