Instructional Support Specialist - Temporary 6 month position

Responsible to: Director of Curriculum Support

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The instructional support specialist will work closely with the faculty, counselors, and advisors to assist in improving the quality of traditional face-to-face and online education. This person will help the Director of Curriculum Support plan and oversee learning via learning management systems and other modalities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Provides technical assistance to instructors for face-to-face and online environments
  • Works with Director of Curriculum Support in supporting targeted learning needs. Helps director in identifying performance gaps and developing plans for the learning solution, post-training support
  • Designs and scripts large, complex interactive projects in a creative team-oriented environment
  • Works with Director of Curriculum Support in providing technical assistance for learning objectives, assessments, and applying Quality Matters
  • Develops storyboard/script with text, voice, sound, graphics, and descriptions and instructions for online instructors
  • Helps develop and maintain instructional technical assistance design schedule
  • Manages technology review and revision cycles as directed by the Curriculum Director
  • Reports on technical task completions
  • Develops QA testing of produced technical content
  • Attends team meetings; tracks decision and action items that emerge from discussions related to online technology
  • Ensures technological consistency with established course design
  • Works with Director of Curriculum Support on training programs to enhance use of technology by the staff and students

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and Experience (required):

    Through college preparation and/or technical preparation and/or experience using technology in communication and training. AAS in computer information systems or equivalent.
    K12 and community college preferred, 2 + years experience with designing interactive multimedia. Proven experience working in creating technical courseware for students and faculty

    Specific Skills:

    Use of MS Office computer product, website development knowledge

    Education (preferred):

    Bachelor’s degree in education or computer science or equivalent.

    SALARY: $29,716 per year, Full-Time, 2011-12 Classified Salary Schedule, Level 28, Step 1.

    FRINGE BENEFITS: Family health, dental, vision insurance, employee term life, and disability insurance provided at a minimal employee contribution. Participation in PERS after 6 months, with a 6% employee contribution.
