Lead Bookstore Specialist

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position assumes responsibility of bookstore operation in the absence of the Bookstore Manager. This position is responsible for the textbook department decisions relating to the acquisition and disposition of text inventory management and department operations. Performs a variety of activities related to customer service. Works in collaboration with the Store Manager to insure store financial and operational success. Works independently with high degree of responsibility and decision making. Does a multitude of tasks as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Responsible for Bookstore Operations in absence of Bookstore Manager
Verify daily deposits
Monitor all cash handling, credits, charges and take corrective actions if necessary
Consult with Financial Aid and Business Office to ensure proper processing of Financial Aid
Schedule and run computer reports as needed
Disseminate textbook requisitions, analyze information, and verify inventory and order books as necessary.
Coordinate and conduct the re-purchase of used books from students. Calculate quantity to buy.
Build relationships with faculty and staff.
Work with book publishers and Wholesalers.
Listen to and resolve customer concerns regarding products or service.
Plans textbook department work calendar.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Incidental Functions:
Responsible for and performs daily store operations as needed.
Open/Close store. Operates cash registers
Oversee the ordering of school supplies, general merchandise, and the unpacking and displaying of merchandise.
Oversee training of part-time and /or work-study employees
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Broad knowledge of total store operations.
Profit and loss knowledge
Ability to multi task, delegate and drive results
Knowledge of procurement processes and analyzing quantity experience preferred
Ability to work under pressure and function independently with deadlines
Knowledge of on-line computers, word processing and spreadsheets
Ability to work closely with people
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate
AA degree desirable
Minimum 5 years of customer service, retail or bookstore experience preferred
SALARY: $24,751 per year, Full-Time 2010-11 Classified Salary Schedule, Level 21, Step 1.
