PT Upward Bound Summer Language Arts Instructor
Starting Date: June 21, 2010 (with some pre-work in May)

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Curriculum will be developed by June 4th.
Developing interactive, hands-on instruction to expose students to subject through different methods.
Fulfilling the Upward Bound goal of increasing the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
Promoting the Upward Bound mission and goal within Umpqua Community College, local schools, in the public media, the community and other colleges; carrying out UCC’s policies pertaining to the position.
Taking students on field trips to colleges and cultural events.
Maintaining close relationships with participants, participants’ parents, and program coordinators.
Creates and prepares hand-outs for class.
Work willingly as a team member, performing other duties as assigned by the Project Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in English or related field.
Previous experience in teaching or developing curriculum preferred.
Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with students and/or individuals from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic and cultural backgrounds required.
First generation college graduate preferred.
SALARY: $17.78 - $20.58 per hour in classroom, plus ½ hour of prep for every hour in classroom., Part-Time Faculty Schedule, Step 1-4 DOE
