UTE GED Instructor

Responsible to: Director of Adult Basic Skills Development

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Instruct GED classes for teenagers and adults using individual, small and large group instruction.
  • Develop class lessons with a focus in reading skills, writing and math.
  • Administer CASAS tests to determine individual progress in reading, math and writing.
  • Prepare both UCC and UTE paperwork and TOPS forms.
  • Track student progress and attendance.
  • Meet the program requirements of both UTE and UCC.
  • Maintain a cooperative, professional attitude with fellow staff members and students.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of program goals and activities.
  • Work with students in workbooks, computer programs and other methods to meet various learning styles.
  • Responsible for effective classroom management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the director, instructional services coordinator or UTE personnel.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two years of prior teaching experience, required.
  • Teach experience in Adult Basic Education preferred.
  • Experience working with teenagers preferred.
  • Experience teaching the five sections of the GED preferred.
  • Experience with the CASAS assessment system preferred.

  • SALARY: Level 1, $41,958, Four days per week, 188 days per year. 2009-10 Full-Time Instructor Salary Schedule, Base
