PT Adult Basic Skills Instructor/GED Instructor

Responsible to: Director of Adult Basic Skills Development
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Responsible for teaching the GED test areas (literature, writing, social studies, science and math) or adult basic education skills areas (writing, math)
Plan and prepares relevant and practical class lessons with the focus on the core GED test areas
Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, that include group or individualized instruction that help students make learning gains
Administer benchmark tests to determine individual progress
Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records, and ensure timely submission of reports
Administer Title II Assessments and learn CASAS Accountability system
Obtain accommodations for students with learning disabilities through UCC staff
Help students work out solutions to barriers to GED testing & transitioning to college
Maintain a cooperative, professional attitude with fellow staff members and students
Responsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learning
Perform other duties as assigned by the director or coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, required
One year of documented, successful teaching experience, required
Adult Basic Education teaching experience, preferred
SALARY: $22.28 per hour, average 8-12 hrs/wk, Part-time 2009-2010 Faculty Salary Schedule
