General Description:
Responsible for design and maintenance of Joomla content management software. Develops key elements of web sites, online tutorials, and technical manuals; provides technical support to online students and faculty; assists faculty and staff with in-service training. Maintains college website html, master cascading style sheets and updates to acceptable standards through industry-based software and technologies, e.g., Joomla, Adobe, Dreamweaver. Provides technical and design assistance to students and staff. Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Functions:
Maintains and updates html, master cascading style sheets through industry based software and technologies, e.g., Joomla content management system, Adobe, Dreamweaver.
Works collaboratively with College staff and students to maintain interest in and currency of information on website.
Works with graphic designer, web consultant, IT, and others in Community Relations Department and others on campus.
Optimizes navigability of the web; ensures applicable standards are met facilitates first level user support
Works collaboratively with internal staff and college departments to develop, maintain and coordinate content management to keep sites current
Provides phone, email and on-site support to students and faculty using CMS, website and social media technology; identifies and resolves problems; researches solutions as needed
Provides one-on-one training or assistance for faculty and staff
Provides technical support by developing templates, provides training on procedures to staff; develops tutorials and online demonstrations for use via the web
Maintains technical expertise in appropriate application software and technologies
Participates in research and development of new technologies and services to support College programs
Performs other duties as assigned
Incidental Functions:
Uses technology to accomplish essential functions; understands and utilizes available resources as communications and data gathering tools.
Understands and collaborates with a variety of staff from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in Computer Information Systems or related field, and two years of college-level course work with a concentration in computer applications, web programming and development, multimedia production or information technology required.
Strong PHP programming skills
Experience with MySQL
Two years of related experience working with web-based applications or systems required.
Use of MS Office computer product, website development knowledge required.
Preferred Qualifications
Secondary education and/or community college experience preferred.
Knowledge and/or familiarity with the Angel Learning Software preferred.
SALARY: $26,264/yr, Full-Time 2011-12 Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 23, Step 1.
