Part-Time Disability Services Accommodations Coordinator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Accommodations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating services for students with disabilities in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Functions
Organize and manage the day-to-day office activities to assure efficient and effective services are provided; coordinate communications; assist the Director and Disability services coordinator with administrative matters.
Coordinate services and reasonable academic accommodations for students with disabilities with the Disability Services and Testing Coordinator.
Provide referral link for students with disabilities to available support services/resources on campus and with various agencies in the community.
Enter program enrollment codes and student information into data base for the department and monthly/year end reports.
Select, hire and train Education Assistants for student with disabilities.
Process personnel paperwork including general applications, time sheets and payroll authorizations/separations.
Provide training, work direction and schedule coordination to work-study students, hourly personnel and others as assigned.
Initiate and answer telephone calls; screen and direct calls and inquiries to appropriate personnel; schedule and confirm appointments.
Respond to requests for information from students, staff, and the general public regarding services, programs, policies, procedures and regulations.
Maintain and secure confidential student files and records.
Process purchase requisitions, open purchase orders, standing orders and invoice payments.
Perform tasks for the department by providing support for the Director, Disability
Services Coordinator and Testing Coordinator in their absence.
Assist with test proctor scheduling and accommodations.
Monitors the progress of students being helped through the registration system.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling & Advising.

Experience providing presentations and speaking in front of groups.

Physical Demands
Some bending, sitting, standing and walking; lifting and carrying 0-14 pounds may occur
Office environment with mostly sitting and standing activities
A “flexible” schedule will be required, occasionally may include evenings
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate of Arts OR Associate of Science degree from an accredited college or university – REQUIRED
Experience advising or working with students with disabilities – REQUIRED
Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with individuals from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic, and cultural backgrounds – REQUIRED
Computer skills, Internet knowledgeable, Web page development, Database, Word-processing and student management software experience (SCT Banner) - REQUIRED
SALARY: $11.73/hour, Part-Time Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 20 Step 1. 19 hours per week or less
