What DS Can't Do For You:
- Change basic requirements (essential elements) of class or program
- Purchase equipment or provide personal services that you would need in other places besides UCC.
- Anticipate unique needs
- Ask instructors to lower their standards
What YOU can do for YOU
With reasonable accommodations, you must be able to meet the requirements (perform the essential elements) of the class/program/college.
You are expected to behave in an appropriate manner. Student Rights and Responsibilities are published in the college catalog, the yearly schedule of classes, and the College website.
Have good documentation. If at all possible, the person who diagnoses you needs to provide information about how your disability is impacted in a college setting, and what accommodations will allow you an opportunity to succeed.
Be able to request accommodations and explain how they will help you compete on an equal basis.
