Assistant Professor, Business
- 1140 Umpqua College Rd
Roseburg, OR 97470
Matt was born and raised in Roseburg Oregon. He lived in Douglas County for 38 years. He now lives in the Portland metro area. He has been teaching online for UCC since 2009. Matt teaches Professional Selling, Customer Service, Ecommerce, and Computers in Business. As an alum, Matt still remembers what it was like to be a student at UCC. He appreciates having the privilege of giving back to his hometown alma mater and the students who live in Douglas County. Before UCC, Matt worked in corporate technology, primarily in support, sales, and customer service.
Matt earned a couple of Associate of Applied Science degrees from UCC, one in Computer Information Systems. He also has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Northwest Christian University. His master’s degree from Boise State University is in Education Technology, with an emphasis in adult online teaching. Matt is an advocate of online education. If you ask him about it, you will likely get a very passionate response. He is always happy to discuss course design, student centered learning, and other geeky concepts about education and technology.
When he isn’t teaching, he is spending time with his family, doing fix-it projects around the house, or on two wheels carving up the country side on his motorcycle. He has been a member of the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America since the mid-70s and has a soft spot in his heart for those Bavarian motorcycles.
