GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for teaching both college transfer and professional technical computer courses. The assignment may include courses in Visual Basic, PHP, Systems Analysis, Operating Systems, HTML, introduction to computer information systems, networks, computer configuration, and microcomputer applications in word processing, database, and spreadsheets.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Meets each assigned class with punctuality, enthusiasm and regular attendance.
  • Implements class activities that will promote maximum learning.
  • Covers the usual course content as described in the approved course outline, and provides sufficient exposure to the material so that students will satisfactorily proceed to the next course in sequence and/or courses in the program.
  • Conducts class during the time and in the room provided on the regular college schedule; any deviation from this must be approved by the Dean and Department Chair.
  • Submits reports as requested including class rosters, grade reports, grade books, text book requests, inventories, and final examinations.
  • Carries out college policies in all aspects that relate to the position.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in a field with a strong computer emphasis from an accredited college or university is preferred and at least five years related work experience required.
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred; On-line instruction experience desirable.
  • Knowledge of common programming languages, business application software, modern operating systems, networks, systems analysis.
  • Skill in curriculum development and course revision.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with people.

    SALARY: $41,958 - $48,828 DOQ, Full-Time 2010-11 Faculty Salary Schedule, Steps 1 min. – 6 max.

    FRINGE BENEFITS: Family health, dental, vision insurance, employee term life, and disability insurance provided at a minimal employee contribution. Participation in PERS after 6 months, with a 6% employee contribution.
