Full-Time Security Officer
Starting Date: ASAP

Responsible to: Director of Safety, Security, and Custodial Services
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Provide a safe and secure environment on campus property during operational hours.
Provide theft and vandalism protection of college property, watch for and report fires or other dangerous occurrences.
Provide a uniformed presence on the campus.
Make periodic rounds of campus grounds and buildings.
Observe and report activities which are out of the ordinary.
Maintain security log of all activities during shift hours.
Prepare written reports of unusual occurrences.
Unlock and lock gates, doors, rooms, and buildings as directed.
Arm and disarm alarm systems as directed.
Offer personal protection and security to staff, students and users of college security during daytime hours.
Provide input regarding the need and replacement of security equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Perform some light custodial maintenance duties.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Color identification, hearing voice conversation, sitting, standing, walking, and exposure to outside temperature extremes, working shifts occurs in this job daily.
Hearing alarms, standing long periods, dampness, and exposure to sun, work in crowded areas occurring regularly but not daily.
Bending, climbing ladders, crawling, crouching, gripping hands & fingers, hammering, kneeling, lifting/carrying 0-60 pounds, operating heavy trucks, operating passenger vehicles, pulling, pushing, reaching, running, shoveling/digging, stooping, twisting body, walking rough terrain, keyboarding, exposure to bee stings, exposure to chemicals, exposure to dust or pollen, exposure to epoxy chemicals, exposure to fumes, exposure to intense light, exposure to noxious odor, exposure to poison oak, exposure to smoke, noisy work area, wearing ear plugs/muffs, wearing hard hats, wearing rubber boots, wearing rubber or plastic gloves, wearing safety glasses, work at heights, work in confined spaces, work in remote areas, work in water, work on high ladders, work with electricity, working at high elevations, working with rotating machinery, working with solvents, grease, oils, inks, exposure to body fluids occurs rarely within the work year.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work independently.
Ability to get along with other people.
Ability to supervise and train other personnel.
Working knowledge of police and/or security work.
Ability to diffuse possible volatile situations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two to three years working experience in security or police work. Must possess DPSST unarmed officer certificate upon hire date.
Valid Oregon Drivers license required.
Must obtain First aid, Blood Borne Pathogen, Forklift, AED, and Heart-saver training within the first 90 days of employment with UCC.
AA Degree, EMT Certificate, or Police Academy training preferred.
SALARY: $23,213/ per year, Full-Time, 2011-12 Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 18, Step 1
