Chemistry Instructor

Responsible to: Dean of Arts and Science and Science Department Chair
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Provide high quality instruction in all areas of chemistry (and other areas as appropriate).
Assist in curriculum development and assessment.
Participate in professional growth activities, keeping current in chemistry and in education.
Keep regular office hours and participate in department, division, and college meetings.
Advise chemistry and related majors in planning courses of study.
Establish, assess, and revise student outcomes consistent with the college’s goals and course content and maintain appropriate student records.
Serve as an effective team member of the department and the college community in committee meetings and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s or Ph.D. degree in chemistry or closely related field required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, effective manner (oral and written) required.
Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate instructional technology in teaching and learning required.
Enthusiasm for the teaching profession and active interest in the discipline of chemistry required. College or community college teaching experience preferred.
Educational background in biology adequate to teach some introductory level courses or laboratories preferred.
SALARY: $41,958 - $48,828 DOQ, Full-Time 2010-11 Faculty Salary Schedule, Steps 1 min. – 6 max.
