Clinical Medical Assistant

A Certificate Program at Umpqua Community College

medrcd1Medical assistants work primarily in ambulatory care settings, such as medical offices and clinics. Duties of medical assistants vary but generally include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for x-ray or other diagnostic exams, collecting and preparing lab specimens, and assisting the physician during the examination.

 

Employment Outlook
According to the Oregon Department of Labor, the projected growth rate in this industry state wide is expected to exceed 45% over the next 10 years. Students who complete this certificate can expect to earn $9 - $14 per hour.
