Communication Specialist in Organizations Pathway Certificate
The UCC Communication Specialist in Organizations certificate provides basic training in written and oral communication skills. Students will have opportunities to create workable solutions for real local workplace problems, to create community service projects, to study successful customer service models, and to engage with local professionals.
The Communication Specialist in Organizations certificate helps prepare students for career opportunities as Communication Specialists, Advertising Sales Agents, Public Relation Assistants, Radio Advertising Sales Representatives, or Customer Service Specialists.
It is the first of three Communication Studies certificates offered by UCC and can be earned with only 15 credits of course work taken from the following classes:
WR227 Technical Writing (3 credits)
SP105 Listening (3 credits)
SP112 Persuasion (3 credits)
SP219 Small Group Discussion (3 credits)
BA214 Business Communication (3 credits) OR BA 165 Customer Service (3 credits).
All UCC Communication Studies certificates can be earned conjunctively with an Associates degree (courses can apply both for the certificate and for the Associate’s degree).
Applicants to this certificate must meet the following prerequisites:
- For WR227, a WR121 course or equivalent is required.
- For BA214, a WR115 course or equivalent is required.
