Public Relations Communication Assistant Certificate

uccbannerThe Public Relations Communication Assistant certificate provides training in workplace and media communication skills. Students will have opportunities to develop workplace listening applications, participate in public debates, create a workable public relations campaign, and learn how to communicate in media applications.

The Public Relations Communication Assistant certificate helps prepare students for career opportunities as Communication Specialists, Advertising Sales Agents, Public Relation Assistants, Radio Advertising Sales Representatives, or Customer Service Specialists. This certificate can be earned with only 18 credits of UCC course work taken from the following classes:

SP105 Listening (3 credits)

SP112 Persuasion (3 credits)

J205 Public Relations (3 credits)

J211 Mass Communications (3 credits)

J251 Writing for the Media (3 credits)

plus three additional credits in any of the following:

J215 Journalism Production ( 1 – 3 credits)

CIS 125P Intro to Desktop Publishing (3 credits)

CIS 125H Writing Web Pages (2 credits).

 

Applicants to this certificate should consider the following course prerequisites:

  • For CIS 125P, moderate word processing experience or instructor approval is required.

 

All UCC Communication Studies certificates can be earned conjunctively with an Associates degree (courses can apply both for the certificate and for the Associate’s degree).
