The Transfer Opportunity Program is a Student Support Services TRIO program that focuses on helping UCC Students who are first generation, low income, and/or disabled to reach their goals of earning four-year college degrees. We offer free, individualized services and support to help eligible students prepare to transfer to a four-year college on the way to earning their bachelors degrees.

Our Services Include:

Academic Advising/Student Transfer Plans
TOP staff provide academic advising and develop individualized Term by Term Planners to help each TOP student complete all course work necessary to transfer on the time line that works best for him/her.

Personal Counseling
The TOP Counselor and Director are trained counseling and social work professionals. They work with each TOP student to provide the support they need to complete their UCC education and successfully transfer to university.

Financial Aid/Scholarship Planning
All TOP students are encouraged to apply for financial aid and scholarships. TOP staff provide one-on-one critiques of scholarship applications, scholarship workshops, and help with financial aid issues.

Peer Tutoring
The Peer Tutor Program provides one-on-one tutoring for TOP students with UCC students who have been successful in the same courses. Students meet with their tutors on campus at times that fit their schedules. There is no limit to the number of courses students can receive tutoring in, although availability of tutors in some subjects may be limited. Students can meet up to 3 hours per week per class in which they receive tutoring.

Career Assessment Program
Students participating in the Career Assessment Program will meet with the TOP Counselor for one hour sessions to discuss career options using career inventories to narrow choices. Students will also learn how to investigate possible careers.

Cultural/Educational Events
TOP arranges for free tickets to cultural and educational events for TOP students, giving them the opportunity to experience things they might not otherwise pursue.

University Campus Visits
TOP schedules visits to Oregon universities each term, arranging for TOP students to meet with faculty or advisors from their intended major/field and go on campus tours to get a feel for the campus.
