The primary objective of the Digital Systems Technology program is to
provide students with the knowledge and practical experience needed for
the installation, maintenance and repair of computer driven and controlled
equipment. These skills include a foundation in basic electronics theory
and techniques commonly associated with microprocessor based systems.
Development of the student's problem-solving skills is emphasized in both practical and theoretical environments. Communication skills, both written and verbal, are strongly emphasized. Students entering this program should be highly movitated and enjoy problem solving, particularly in areas involving electrical concepts and hardware. An aptitude for mathematics and science is required as well as an ability to handle highly detailed projects and documentation.
The AAS degree program is designed for those students seeking employment as Digital Systems Technicians or in the microchip fabrication industry. The AAS degree program has been endorsed by Intel Corporation. To qualify for the AAS degree, you must satisfactorily complete all the required courses. If you are entering the program other than the fall term or need additional math or writing courses before beginning the program, you should see a DST faculty advisor.
