The Program at UCC
Become an entry level commercial truck driver in just 5 weeks! The Umpqua Community College Truck Driver Training course includes classroom training covering: logbooks, trip planning, and preparation for all endorsements except passenger. This is followed by road/yard training covering: behind-the-wheel driving, backing, chaining up, make and brake, and completion of the CDL drive test.
Completion of this program could lead to employment as one of the following:
Chip Hauler
Local Delivery Driver
Log Hauler
Long Haul Truck Driver
Sand and Gravel Hauler

Applicants interested in this program must meet the following prerequisites:
- Possess a valid Oregon drivers license with an acceptable driving record over the past five years.
- Be able to pass a criminal history check.
- Be able to pass periodic drug screening tests.
- Be able to pass a DOT physical.
- Be able to provide an employment history for the past ten years.

Defensive Driving
Are you an employer who needs to certify your people in defensive driving?
Defensive Driving Course I
Classes held Monday - Friday 6 - 8 P.M. and cost $ 38 per person. An overview of the following subjects:
- Construction Zones
- Hazard Perception
- Off Road Safety
- Speed / Space Management
- Vehicle Inspections
- Other Subjects
Defensive Driving Course II
Classes held Saturdays 10 A.M. - 2 P.M. and cost $ 53 per person. Covers all level I topics plus these additional subjects:
- Blowouts
- Exetreme Driving / Weather Conditions
- Oversized Loads
- Driver Disqualification
- Braking Distance
- Other Subjects
