Winchester— Umpqua Community College’s engineering and surveying programs will hold their first annual “Explore Engineering and Surveying” Open House on Thursday, May 15, 6 - 8 pm, in the Campus Center, Indian and Timber Rooms.

The open house and dinner is for high school juniors and seniors and their parents, high school counselors and instructors, UCC students interested in the field of engineering and surveying, and existing UCC engineering and surveying students. Dinner is free for all high school and UCC students, $10 for all others.

This is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors, and their parents, to here about the UCC engineering and surveying programs directly from the instructors who teach them and from students currently taking them. Also, it’s a place where these same high school students can learn how their UCC education would apply to the work world from practitioners in the field.

You can learn about completing a two-year career and technical Associate of Applied Science degree and move directly into the work force. Students and their parents will also learn about the options of transferring your UCC credits to a public four-year university and work toward and Bachelor of Science degree.

Students will have an opportunity to visit with representatives from Oregon State University, Oregon Institute of Technology, and Portland State University to discuss their engineering and surveying programs. Students will meet local, working engineers and surveyors and be able to ask them questions about their careers and job opportunities and talk to existing UCC students about their experience at UCC and their future plans.

The open house and dinner is hosted by local chapters of Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon, Professional Engineers of Oregon, and Umpqua Community College Engineering and Surveying Program.
