Roseburg— Have you thought about going back to college and don’t know where to begin? Is your new year’s resolution to finally finish that degree? Is paying for classes your concern? Do you wonder what campus life is like for the adult student?
Umpqua Community College has the answers to those questions and school officials will be coming to a town near you in the next two weeks. It’s called “College 101.”
A former adult student, a financial aid specialist and the College recruiter will hold five one-hour meetings in Roseburg, Glide, Myrtle Creek, and Sutherlin over the next two weeks.
They are:
UCC financial aid experts will tell interested people the kinds, the amounts and the ways to apply for financial aid. (There’s something for nearly every situation.)
A former adult student will describe what student life was like for him. Are there other students at UCC just like you? (Yes.) Do the instructors respect the older returning student? (Very much so.)
What kinds of classes does the College offer? (Many and for both the college transfer student and the ones seeking career and technical instruction.) What about grades? Can I complete my degree even if I must work, too? (Many do.)
