Roseburg— The Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College presents Susan Speaking, an exhibit featuring the works of six local artists all named Susan, January 7 through January 31. The Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College is located in the Whipple Fine Arts Building on the UCC campus. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m, Monday through Friday, and by appointment.
Paintings by Susan Applegate and Susan Comerford, textiles by Suzy Liles, photographs and book arts by Susan Rochester, ceramics by Susan Roden, and paintings and drawings by Susan Rudisill will be on display.
The artists are part of a loosely-affiliated group of local artists, all named Susan and all drawing inspiration for their specific art forms from living in Douglas County and Southern Oregon. They have exhibited together previously, and have collaborated on a larger work, which received attention in a national fiber arts publication. Their works can be found in public and private collections throughout the United States.
A reception for the artists will be held on Thursday, January 24, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm in the Art Gallery.
