UCC’s Ashley Powell named to all-star volleyball team

Roseburg— The Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) recently announced that Umpqua Community College women’s volleyball player Ashley Powell was named to the NWAACC Southern region Volleyball All-Stars Second Team for 2007.
Ashley, a UCC sophomore and Douglas High School graduate, is majoring in elementary education. She plans to transfer to Northwest Christian College next fall.
Ashley played in the all-star game at Snowy Pierce College in Lakeview, Washington, on December 1, 2007. The Southern region, that includes UCC, played other NWAACC regions and ended with a 2-1 record.
“Ashley has been a hard worker for the past two years at UCC. She has continued to become a great volleyball player as well as a leader.” said UCC volleyball coach, Mary Morris.
The NWAACC is made up of 37 community colleges in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. The all-star team is made up of athletes who have been voted by league coaches.
