Roseburg— Umpqua Community College is sponsoring a tour, “Christmas Lights at Shore Acres” on December 4 and 5, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuition is $3, class fee $157, and the instructor is Kay VanKrevelen. Price includes transportation, motel, meals, and entry fees. To register, call 440-7744 and ask for course number 23552. Register early, space is limited.
Have lunch and explore Old Town Bandon. Tour the Oregon Connection (myrtlewood factory). Check into the Edgewater Inn in Coos Bay. Dinner will be at Captain’s Choice. After dinner we will tour the beautiful Shore Acres Christmas flower and enormous light display.
After a comfortable night and continental breakfast at the Edgewater we will learn a little history about Umpqua County, the Jedediah Smith Massacre, Fort Umpqua, and Scottsburg. We will head home after lunch at Tomaselli’s famous Pastry Mill in Elkton. Trip will leave Sherm’s Thunderbird Market parking lot at 8 am on December 4.
