November 29-- C.S. Lewis' birthday, author of the Narnia series of children's books. Search for Lewis' books at the DCLS and UCC libraries, or, if you prefer, see what the critics are saying about the upcoming Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe film, out 12/9/2005.
November 30-- The World Trade Organization planned a meeting in Seattle, WA on this day in 1999 which was overshadowed by massive protests held against the WTO in the streets of Seattle-- some 40,000 people participated.

December 3-- Joseph Conrad's birthday, and the start of finals week. Oh, the horror, the horror!
December 4-- Think you're having a bad time studying? On this day in history, a "killer fog" descended on London: the Great Smog of 1952, which lasted for four months and killed roughly 12,000 people.

December 6-- U.S. federal judge John M. Woolsey rules that the James Joyce novel Ulysses is not obscene (1933).
December 7-- On this day, the United States declared war on Austria-Hungary, World War I (1917), and Pearl Harbor was attacked, entering the US into World War II (1941).
December 8-- The Eagles release their album Hotel California in 1976, which has sold roughly 16 million copies in the United States to date. The common urban legend which claims the song references Aleister Crowley or Satanism is false.
December 9-- Anna's Day celebrated in Sweden, specifically recognizing everyone named "Anna." According to Wikipedia, December 9th is also "Anti-corruption Day."
December 10-- The birthday of Kenneth Branagh, Shakespearean actor and film director. Check out one of his films from the UCC library for a holiday viewing treat!
