This is a guide for research in Astronomy, and for students enrolled in related courses. You'll find suggested reference books, subject databases useful for searching for articles from journals and magazines, sources for topical background information, and suggested World Wide Web sites and resources.

EBSCOHost Academic Search Premier
Multi-disciplinary database of full text articles and abstracts from magazines and peer-reviewed journals including those in the field of astronomy. Available off-campus; contact the library for access information.

Access Science
An encyclopedic database covering science and technology that includes a comprehensive section on astronomy and space science broken down into many subtopics including astrophysics, radioastronomy, and celestial mechanics (to name a few). Access Science contains encyclopedic articles and research updates as well as study guides, essay topics, biographies and related websites for the field of astronomy. Encyclopedia of the Solar System

Backyard Astronomer’s Guide
Handbook covering everything the amateur astronomer needs to know to get started in using a telescope and the basics for observing the skies. 523 D

History of the Telescope

NASA Homepage
Homepage for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and a portal to all kinds of space exploration and astronomical information.

Sky Map
An interactive map of space outside of our solar system, searchable by coordinate, constellation, and visual browsing.

Earth and Moon Viewer
Views of the Earth from the sun and moon, views of the moon from the Earth and the sun, as well as current views related to position of all three, views from currently orbiting satellites, and an option to customize the view you are looking for.

Complete Sun and Moon Data for One Day
Database where one can obtain the times of sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, transits of the Sun and Moon, and the beginning and end of civil twilight, along with information on the Moon's phase by specifying the date and location. NASA Image Exchange
A searchable database of NASA images/photographs, movie/video, and audio.

Solar System
Interactive information on our solar system and various NASA projects from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Cal Tech. This site also contains links to other interactive information resources from JPL.

The Eight Planets
