Kathleen Walton

Photo of Kathleen Walton.Although she began her life in California, Kathleen Walton considers herself an Oregonian through and through. She taught writing, literature, and journalism at Oregon State University and for the last three years taught writing and literature online and in the classroom at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

“Teaching has never been a job for me, but instead it is who I am. I have the opportunity to empower my students to choose education at any level as a process of life-long learning, and to show my students a doorway to the endless possibilities in life. How incredible is that? I truly love what I do!” she exclaims.

Kathleen’s daughter is a student at UCC in the nursing program and constantly talks about the great things she experienced as a student. Her husband works for Roseburg Forest Products, and she has two boys in high school. She loves to garden, cook and take lots and lots of pictures.

When asked about her experience at UCC, she says “I have never felt more welcome and more at home than I do here at Umpqua Community College. This is an exceptional place! I love my students and I am grateful for all of the wonderful people. This is truly the best and I will do my best to keep it that way!”
