Jennifer Ivey needed to find a way to support herself and her children after her divorce in 2000. She relocated to Roseburg in search of a better environment to raise her children and to start a new life for herself. She determined that she needed more experience and schooling to attain a professional career.
June 2007, Jennifer will have completed a clinical medical assistant certificate which will allow her to perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of a physician or other health practitioner running smoothly. In the Fall, Jennifer plans to return to UCC to gain a degree in psychology, then transfer to the University of Oregon, majoring in psychology with an emphasis in child and adolescent psychology.
Jennifer serves as the Vice President of the Non-Traditional Student Club and is a candidate for the 2007-08 Associated Students of UCC Executive Council. She is also active in Autism Speaks and Cure Autism Now. It helps support individuals who have family members who are autistic, like her two-year old son.
Her passion to help children and lead them to new horizons is what motivates her everyday. “I want my children to know that you can overcome life’s obstacles if you remain positive and stay persistent.”
