Green resident, Cory Cunningham, says he didn’t care about grades in high school and missed a lot of classes. “I just wasn’t motivated and there wasn’t anyone to believe in me,” Cory recalls. “I spent time with other unmotivated students, earned a bad reputation and had very few friends.” After high school, with limited skills and education, Cory worked in the only jobs he was qualified for - food service.
Now at age 21, and since attending UCC, all of that has changed. “I have set educational goals for myself,” Cory shares, “and I have so many friends at the college. I actually want to be in school. Wow! Life is so different now.”
He is excited about what lies ahead: working on earning an associate of arts Oregon transfer degree and planning to attend Portland State University.
“UCC is the reason I have my life back on track. I can see myself attending a four year university and having a great future.”
