EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Assists students with the financial aid process:
Reviews and discusses submitted applications with applicants, verifies completeness and accuracy of student information, correlates information with between corresponding documentation and FAFSA, discusses discrepancies with applicants and resolves differences
Makes independent decisions with regard to student information and required documentation
Responds to questions and provides instructions to financial aid applicants, both at the counter and over the phone regarding financial aid opportunities and qualifications
Advise students, prospective students, and parents concerning financial aid programs and forms implementing current federal and state financial aid rules and regulations.
Explain complex policies and procedures.
Researches and resolves problems with document tracking, application status, and check disbursement.
Discusses eligibility factors with parents and students along with responsibilities associated with the acceptance of aid.
Performs precision data entry in BANNER system to reflect tracking status of forms and acceptance of student financial aid awards.
Accurately prepare files for awarding process.
Assists in annual planning and evaluation of student financial aid operational activities and recommends appropriate changes of policies and procedures for the director's review
Assists in monitoring and evaluating financial aid satisfactory academic progress and counsels students who have failed to meet the requirements.
Provide support to Director of Financial Aid by maintaining data required for periodic reports as well as assisting with verifying accuracy of data for federal, state and institutional reports.
Interviews, hires, trains, supervise, and evaluates office federal work-study personnel. Maintains personnel files for same. Maintains federal work-study schedules for flow of office work. Responsible for verification and accuracy of work-study time sheets.
Manages highly confidential financial aid information.
Advise students of additional sources of information and assistance relative to their needs offered through other campus offices, i.e. disability services, jobs, counseling center.
Embraces appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions; understands and utilizes available technology as communication and data-gathering tools.
Comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) in all duties; consistently applying UCC policies and approved work processes.
Frequently must deal with irate students and angry parents in a calm professional manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate Degree preferred.
Two years of office experience required. Experience in Financial Aid preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the job will be considered.
Ability to use a variety of computer programs and systems.
SALARY:$21,876 per year, Full-Time Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 16, Step 1
