EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Functions:
Provide high quality instruction in the areas of Viticulture and Enology.
Lead curriculum development and other related professional activities for the Viticulture and Enology program. The program development load will decrease in the second and third years, and the teaching load will increase.
Oversee the development of a campus vineyard and winery.
Work closely with business and industry leaders, workforce and economic development partners, and the campus community to promote and utilize the Southern Oregon Wine Institute at Umpqua Community College.
Recruit and advise Viticulture and Enology students planning courses of study at UCC and transfer institutions.
Establish, assess, and revise course objectives consistent with appropriate course content for each class.
Establish and assess student outcomes, consistent with college guidelines and course content for each class.
Establish and assess program outcomes, maintaining appropriate records.
Keep regular office hours and serve as an effective team member within the department and with the college community in committee meetings and other duties as assigned, and with the industry cluster at large.
Participate in professional growth activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Viticulture, Enology, Horticulture, Plant Science, or closely related field preferred.
Associate's degree with 5 years related experience may be substituted for Bachelor's.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, effective manner (oral and written) required.
Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate instructional technology in teaching and learning required.
Community college teaching experience, program/resource development, industry experience, and/or Extension Service experience required.
Equivalent combination of education and wine industry related experience considered.
Educational background in chemistry and/or biology adequate to teach some introductory level courses or laboratories preferred.
SALARY:$51,071 per year, Full-Time Administrative Salary Schedule, Range 2.
