EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Fulfilling the Upward Bound/Educational Talent Search (UB/ETS) missions as described in each grant.
Carrying out all College Board and administrative policies pertaining to the position.
Promoting the UB/ETS missions within the college, local schools, in the public media, the community and other colleges.
Supervising the student identification, eligibility verification, assessment, selection process and tracking process.
Recruiting and recommending qualified Talent Search personnel for hiring, training and evaluating for retention or dismissal.
Coordinate the development, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of all UB/ETS projects.
Maintaining close relationships with middle and high school principals and counselors, college counseling faculty, the TRIO Student Support Services Director, community agencies and other colleges to ensure that enhanced services are made available to all participants.
Monitoring compliance with all Talent Search Project requirements.
Developing, directing and evaluating the UB/ETS projects according to U.S. Department of Education requirements, including preparation of reports, research and grant requests.
Supervising facility and equipment use, including project inventories.
Developing administrative guidelines for all services within the project.
Establishing, maintaining and monitoring official project records systems and ensuring that all staff members maintain required student tracking records.
Coordinating all academic advising, provide personal counseling for students, and maintain and keep current assigned student files.
Designing and implementing project staff development activities.
Scheduling ongoing team meetings to assess individual student progress and assure that all Learning Assistance Plans are current.
Monitoring and administering the project budget to guarantee adherence to U.S. Department of Education and college requirements.
Regularly participating in College Senate, Student Advising and Financial Aid committee meetings and Administrative Association meetings.
Providing supervision for all project staff.
Serve as a liaison for the UB/ETS project with college staff, the public media, community and state groups and other colleges.
Serve as a counselor for the project and teach workshops and classes as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Development
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Education, Behavioral and/or Social Science or related field or in progress required.
Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with students and/or individuals from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic, and cultural backgrounds required.
Proven written and oral communication skills required.
Two years previous teaching experience, and/or counseling of students from a diverse background preferred.
Two years successful supervision, fiscal and student tracking systems management experience preferred.
Successful experience in designing, managing, and implementing a TRIO or similar project preferred.
SALARY:
$51,071 per year, Full-Time, 2007-08 Administrative Salary Schedule, Range 2
