Strong JOBS advocate
Wendy Todori speaks quietly and confidently, and you can tell she means it when she says, "Growing up in Rochester, New York made me tough; I’m a fighter." She is a strong advocate for her clients at the JOBS Program where she is the work experience coordinator. "There’s a lot of satisfaction in helping our clients–who are mostly single moms–find success."
Wendy is also a strong advocate for her 13-year-old son, Parker who is autistic. "He’s very bright and high functioning, but he needs plenty of extra care and attention," she explains. She and Parker enjoy watching movies together and playing Nintendo games, and they both love road trips. "I love traveling," she said, "But not flying–you don’t get to see anything that way." She plans a trip to New York soon to visit her daughter, Roxie and grandson Riley who is almost four. She notes happily that she has been to every state but Alaska, New Mexico and Arizona, "And I’ve worked in a lot of them too."
She and her husband, Gabor, who was born in Hungary, traveled extensively while he was in the Air Force. Then he became a steel worker and she worked construction jobs, noting proudly that she was the first female to work on her road crew. She also did volunteer work with seniors, appreciating the "wealth of information" about history that they shared. This work led her into the field of social services.
Gabor was killed in a work-related accident in 1981, and for some years Wendy traveled back and forth between New York and Roseburg where her parents had retired. Today she is very happy with her job which involves working with clients one-on-one, doing home visits, finding work experience positions, assisting with training, and otherwise helping with the transition to the work world.
NWAACC All-Academic Team

The NWAACC annually selects athletes of the year from the 34 community colleges it represents in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia. Congratulations!
Coast trip
Join the Science Dept. on a winter field trip to Bandon, Sunset Bay and the Oregon Dunes on March 5 and 6 to hear a geologist's perspective on our coastal landforms. The group will be camping at Sunset Beach State Park.
For more information or to reserve a space, call Cindy, x654.
Family Fun Fair
The Family Fun Fair that took place on Saturday, Feb. 5 was a big hit! The children and their families buzzed from station to station enjoying the wide variety of activities from petting a snake to creating ‘Love Bugs’ and several other art activities, to climbing over and through an obstacle course. This year we had more organizations attending and more families who came to enjoy.
The staff at Ford Family Center would like to thank the following: Phi Beta Lamda, the Early Childhood Education students, FFC volunteers and the many organizations who sponsored booths.
Without our volunteers, we would not have had such a successful and enjoyable Family Fun Fair. We can not thank you enough! Connie Dell’Anno - Director
Who won the computer?
The Computer Club’s grand prize, a Dell computer, went to Diane Johnson. Other winners were Becki Mendenhall, Dave Johnston, Rosemary Hoy, Desirae Lee and Annamarie Adams.

Rooter bus – sign up now!
UCC’s last basketball game of the season is at Lane on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Lane and UCC women are tied for first place. Our teams could use some friendly faces and strong cheering from us.
A nostalgic yellow school bus has been rented and can accommodate 54 fans. The bus will leave UCC at 4pm/return at 10:30pm. Cost will be about $3 / person if we fill the bus.
Do you need a little more encouragement? Well–it is rumored that Jan Woodcock, social science instructor, will be sharing entertaining road trip stories while Terry Peek, Dean of Instruction, will be sporting his guitar.
Please contact Joyce Kelly in Student Services or call x705 to reserve seats. We need 20 signed up by Monday.
Final exams are March 14-19
Followed by Spring break starting March 21-25.
