It was just like that movie–“The Birds”
On Thursday, three Community Ed staff members who shall remain nameless (Sandi Smick, Suzanne Murray and Sherry
Buchko) were discombobulated by an apparent Hitchcock moment.
Kelley Griffith, warehouse secretary, received a frantic call for help to deal with what the nameless employees
believed was a fierce, enraged hawk, trapped and screaming in Lockwood's attic.
Griffith and Dale Bryant, custodian, raced to the rescue, only to find that the nameless ladies had discovered
that the terrifying screeching noise came from a "jungle motif" computer screen saver in a nearby office. By
afternoon, much of the red had faded from the faces of the nameless employees, but they were still laughing a bit
sheepishly at themselves.
"Oh great, I suppose this is going to go in the PWA," Smick said, feigning annoyance when this reporter peeked
in the door and squawked like a hawk. Then she laughed and shouted, "Just spell our names right!" as said reporter
fled, giggling.
