Winchester— The Board of Trustees opened its September 12th meeting with the introduction of UCC’s 2006 Volleyball Team. Reports were heard from the Senate, Faculty, Classified, and Students.
The Presidents report included the following:
- UCC continues to strive to be a student-centered institution. The counseling center telephoned over 5,000 individuals conducting student enrollment follow-up.
- Banner implementation is approx 75% complete. This technological feature provides the college with a student email system, allowing faculty to communicate with their students and students with their faculty. This will reduce postage and print costs for the college by becoming the primary communication tool.
- Part time faculty in-service is scheduled this Saturday, September 23, to provide a solid orientation.
- Education Talent Search was funded for four years, providing first generation and disadvantaged students the opportunity to connect with higher education.
- First Aquatics Taskforce meeting was held on August 10 and has started the process of identifying the costs associated with a feasibility study.
- Emergency and disaster recovery taskforce was launched in collaboration with Linn Benton Community College and Central Oregon Community College.
Board approved:
- Human Subjects Research Policy developed to ensure research done at UCC protects the rights, well-being, and personal privacy of individuals, assures a favorable climate for the acquisition of academically oriented inquiry, and protects the interests of the college.
- Fee increase for Ford Family Center Daycare, from $2.50 to $3.50 per hour. The increased costs will support increased hours of service, enhanced services such as staffing, nutritional meals, an early childhood curriculum and increased capacity.
- Appointment of budget committee member, Sally Dunn for Zone 4, for a three-year term.
- Tuition Waiver for Dependents of Fallen Oregon Service Members.
- Final Report of the Institutional Master Plan.
The new Division Director of Liberal Arts was introduced, Dr. Jim Arnold.
