Applying for Admission to UCC
Through our office you may register for credit or non-credit classes, change your schedule, obtain verification for insurance/deferment purposes, and/or pay for classes.
Key Services Provided Include:
- Maintenance of the registration system. To enroll in credit classes you must be a continuing, re-entering, or an admitted student. These are students which are defined as:
- A "continuing" student is any student who has taken an Umpqua credit class in the past year.
- A "returning" student is any student who has taken an Umpqua credit class and out of school for one full year and has submitted an Application for Admission Form to the Admissions Office for re-entry.
- An "admitted" student is someone who has never attended Umpqua, or who has not attended within the last year, and has submitted an Application for Admission Form to the Admission Office.
- Evaluation of transcripts from previous schools and colleges and military training. Official transcripts must be submitted in a sealed envelope from the issuing school and an evaluation requested in writing. Evaluations may take up to three weeks to complete, depending upon the time of year they are requested. For information on credit for military training, please contact the Admissions Office.
Who May Enroll
UCC admits students who meet any one of the following entrance requirements:
- Graduates from an accredited secondary school;
- Individuals who have earned the GED Certificate of Equivalency or an Adult High School Diploma;
- Non-high school graduates 18 years old or older and whose high school class has graduated;
- Individuals who are 16 or 17 years old who are not required to attend high school and who furnish a written "release from compulsory school attendance: may make application as a special student (ORS 339.030);
- Students who are attending high school as juniors or seniors who present written approval from their school officials. Course load must be approved by both schools;
- Special program requirements other than listed above;
- Students who are at least 16 years of age, but not yet 21 years, and who have not completed high school or passed the GED Tests may apply for admission in the high school completion program. Students must secure the written release from the high school to qualify for the program;
- If you're a citizen of another country you must meet certain federal immigration and college requirements before admittance to UCC. Use this link for more information on admission of foreign students.
- Noncredit students are not required to make formal application.
Office Hours
The Records/Registration is located in the Campus Center Building. Regular public service hours are: Mon & Wed-Fri: 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Tues: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., throughout the academic year, except for official college holidays. Summer hours are: Mon, Wed & Thurs: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Tues: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please check the academic calendar for campus closure dates and extended hours during first week of each term.

Non-Credit Classes -
- Register at the registration window during listed hours or
- By mail. Clip the mail-in form on the Community Education Schedule or
- By phone. Call (541) 440-4601, please have your registration information and credit card number ready.
- Pay tuition & fees when you register. Check, money order, cash or Visa/MasterCard.

Tuition
The Board of Directors for Umpqua Community College sets the amount of tuition and fees each year. It is the philosophy of the Board to keep both tuition and fees as low as possible.

Residency Requirements
Oregon Resident - An American citizen or immigrant who has maintained a residence in Oregon for at least 90 days prior to the beginning of classes.
Out-of-State Student - An American citizen or immigrant who has not established residency in Oregon 90 days prior to the beginning of classes.
International Student - A citizen of another country here on other than an immigrant visa.
Fees
Very few fees are charged to students at UCC. Fees are usually associated with additional instructional costs for specific courses. Examples are:
- Science Lab $10.00/lab
- Tele-courses $10.00/class
- Computer classes $5.00/class
- Art & Welding courses varies per class
- Phys. Educ. courses $5.00 towel fee/class
Many classes do not have lab or other fee assessed.
