UCC Scholars

The UCC Scholars program allows high school students, home-school students, and military veterans who meet academic requirements to attend UCC full-time without paying tuition. The scholarship pays full tuition for up to two years. The student is responsible to pay their fees, books and other miscellaneous expenses.

Applications will be accepted for the UCC Scholars program between March 7-14 in the Scholarship Office, room 107 of the Technology Center building.

The one-page application is available in the link below. Applications submitted before the application period will be returned to you. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.

Students selected as UCC Scholars will receive a form to waive their tuition for the next fall term. This form will need to completed and returned to the scholarship office.

Eligibility Criteria

Umpqua Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship for up to two years in any field of study, including any of our Career Technical programs.

High School Students

  • Attend High School in Umpqua community College's district
  • Earn a cumulative (unweighted) high school GPA of 3.50 or better (as of the first semester grades of final year of high school)
  • Place into UCC’s Writing 115 or higher, Math 95 or higher, and Reading 80 or higher OR Have enrolled or completed Writing 115 and Math 95
  • Enroll full-time (15-19 credits) at Umpqua Community College the fall term that immediately follows high school graduation

Home-School Students

  • Reside permanently within Umpqua Community College’s district
  • Earn ACT composite score of 23 or SAT score of at least 1000 (combined math and reading)
  • Place into UCC’s Writing 115 or higher, Math 95 or higher, and Reading 80 or higher OR Have enrolled or completed Writing 115 and/or Math 95
  • Enroll full-time (15-19 credits) at Umpqua Community College the fall term that immediately follows completing secondary education requirements

Military Veterans

  • Meet the high school student or home school student requirements listed above
  • Joined the military within three months of graduating from high school
  • Enroll at UCC within six months of military discharge

To Apply

Step 1

All Applicants

  1. Complete Umpqua Community College’s application for admissions. You must be admitted to UCC prior to applying
  2. Complete UCC’s COMPASS placement test in reading, writing, and math (Students who have enrolled and/or completed Writing 115 and Math 95 do not need to retake the placement test.)

Step 2

High School Applicants

  1. Complete the Umpqua Scholars Application Packet
  2. Obtain a copy of your high school transcript
  3. Hand deliver the completed application and your transcripts to the UCC Scholarship Office between March 7-14, 2014, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Do not submit the application and/or materials prior to March 7, 2014.

Home School Applicants

  1. Complete the Umpqua Scholars Application Packet
  2. Obtain a copy of your high school transcript
  3. Hand deliver the completed application and your transcripts to the UCC Scholarship Office between March 7-14, 2014, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Do not submit the application and/or materials prior to March 7, 2014.

Application packets must be received by March 14, 2014, 4:30 pm. Incomplete or late application will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.

Accepted Applicants

Once accepted as UCC Scholars, students can keep their scholarship for up to six terms by maintaining a 3.25 GPA and a full-time schedule of classes (15-19 credits), and completing 10 hours of community service each term.
