Student Orientation

Our Student Orientation (SO) covers campus resources, student code of conduct, accessing a student's Student Self Service for registration, transcripts, grades and financial aid. Upon completion, you will receive a UCC student ID, and have a chance to tour the campus while you're here. Student Orientation (SO) is a registration enforced pre-requisite at Umpqua Community College. All newly admitted degree seeking students are required to complete the SO at UCC. Returning students who have not completed the SO as of Summer of 2009 will also be required to do so.

Where do I check-in?

Check-in for sessions held Monday - Friday is at the Advising & Career Service Center in the Campus Center Building.  Check-in for Saturday sessions will be given by phone at the time of reservation. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of NSO.  Late arrivals will be rescheduled for the next available open session.

How long does Student Orientation last?

Approximately four hours.

Do I have to stay the entire time?

Yes. Student Orientation is MANDATORY.  It is important that you participate in all the Student Orientation activities as the program has been designed to help prepare you for your first term as a student at UCC.  If you have to leave early, you will be rescheduled to attend the next available open session.

Where can I park?

You may park in any of the white painted parking space on campus.  However, 30 minute parking spaces are strictly enforced for 30 minute parking.  At SO, students may register for a student parking sticker for the upcoming academic year.

Where can I purchase food or drinks?

During regular hours of operation for the college, the Cafeteria and Bookstore will be open for purchases.  Unfortunatelly, they are closed on Saturday/Sunday.

I’m not able to attend the session I signed up for – can I attend a different session?

Space is limited and sessions fill up quickly.  We encourage students to keep their reserved spot.  If you need to cancel, you will be placed in the next available open session.  Please call 541-440-4610 to reschedule.

Is Student Orientation mandatory?

Yes.  In order to register for credit classes, you must complete Student Orientation at Umpqua Community College.

Questions or additional information may be directed to the Advising & Career Service Center at 541-440-4610 or contact Mary Morris.
