Human Services: Addiction Studies

The Addiction Studies Certificate (46 credits) allows students an opportunity for employment in paraprofessional positions in Human Services. Upon completion of coursework and a required 1,000 hours of supervised experience, the Addiction Studies Certificate is designed to prepare the student to take the Oregon Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor exam (CADC I). In addition, this certificate offers the student a broader base of understanding in the field of Addiction Studies. The classes required for this certificate are part of the first-year study in the two-year AAS degree in Human Services.

This certificate includes both elective and required class of the AAOT-HS degree (Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer - Human Services).

During studies in the program, students make class visits to community Human Services agencies.

Careers

This certificate prepares students for entry level positions in Social and Human Services Agencies, and helps students prepare for CADC I exam.

To begin the program, students must be enrolled at UCC, and have basic writing and communication skills. This program starts the Fall term.
